NACMCF to Hold Another Meeting on Cyclospora in Produce, Cronobacter in Powdered Infant Formula

The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (USDA’s FSIS) has announced an upcoming virtual public meeting of the full National Advisory Committee on Microbiological Criteria for Foods (NACMCF). The committee will discuss and vote to adopt a report, titled, "Cyclospora cayetanensis in Produce." NACMCF will also provide an update on its charge regarding Cronobacter in powdered infant formula.

The NACMCF charges and documents to be discussed in the upcoming meeting can be viewed on FSIS’ website. FSIS will finalize an agenda on or before the meeting date and post it on the FSIS website as well.

The full committee will hold the virtual public meeting via Webex on Wednesday, August 30, 2023, from 11:00 A.M.–1:00 P.M. ET. Attendees must pre-register to receive a join link, dial-in number, access code, and unique Attendee ID for the event.

Comments may be submitted on or before August 25, 2023. Those interested in providing comments at the August 30, 2023, plenary meeting should indicate so when registering. Comments will be limited to three minutes per speaker.

FSIS is inviting stakeholders to submit written comments on the "Cyclospora cayetanensis in Produce" report. Written comments may be submitted by one of the following methods:

  • On the Federal eRulemaking Portal
  • By mail sent to Docket Clerk, U.S. Department of Agriculture, Food Safety and Inspection Service, 1400 Independence Avenue SW, Mailstop 3758, Room 1128, Washington, DC 20250–3700
  • By hand or courier delivery to 1400 Independence Avenue SW, Jamie L. Whitten Building, Room 350–E, Washington, DC 20250–3700.

All items submitted by mail or electronic mail must include the agency name and docket number FSIS–2023–0017.
