Honey Sold in EU Must Now Carry Countries of Origin on Label

New EU labeling regulations for honey went into effect on June 14, 2026, introducing strengthened requirements for country-of-origin declarations.
Under the new rules, all countries of origin for blended honey must be clearly indicated on the label, in descending order of weight, along with the percentage contribution of each country. This information must be presented in the principal field of vision of the product, ensuring it is easily visible to consumers at the point of purchase.
Blended honey products will no longer be permitted to carry more general descriptions, such as “a blend of EU honeys,” without more detailed country-of-origin specifications.
Honey that was produced, packaged, labeled, and placed on the market before June 14 will be allowed to remain on the market.
