Prepared Pasta Meal Listeriosis Outbreak Ends with Seven Deaths
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has announced that a Listeria monocytogenes outbreak linked to prepared pasta meals has ended with seven deaths.
Affected products were sold under various brand names at numerous major retailers including Walmart, Kroger, Trader Joe’s, Giant Eagle, Demers Food Group, and Albertsons, as well as smaller retailers across the U.S.
The products shared a single supplier of contaminated pasta, Nate’s Fine Foods Inc.
The outbreak investigation began in June 2025. A total of 28 listeriosis cases associated with the outbreak were reported in 19 states, resulting in 27 hospitalizations. One pregnancy-associated illness resulted in a fetal loss.
Onset of illnesses ranged between August 2024 and November 2025. States in which cases were reported included Arizona, California, Florida, Hawaii, Illinois, Indiana, Louisiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, North Carolina, Nevada, Ohio, Oregon, South Carolina, Texas, Utah, Virginia, and Washington.
