Livsmedelsverket, also known as the Swedish Food Agency, has published a handbook, titled, Food Control in Crisis and Heightened Preparedness. The goal of the handbook is to help Swedish food safety authorities prepare for crisis and war situations.

The handbook outlines how authorities can plan for crisis and bolster their preparedness, including by drawing up and further developing contingency plans. The handbook also provides an overview of Sweden's preparedness system, and an understanding of the requirements placed on leadership and communication in the event of a social disruption.

The handbook will help authorities prepare for worst-case scenarios and minimize associated risks and consequences through a systematic way of working and collaboration between different organizations.
