Taiwan to Implement National ‘Vegan’ Certification Labeling Scheme

Taiwan is implementing a voluntary, vegan-certified labeling scheme for plant-based food products sold nationwide.
Announced at a stakeholder consultation meeting hosted by the Taiwan Food and Drug Administration (TFDA), and reported by Vegconomist, the certification label, tentatively named “All Plant-Based” (全植物素 VEGAN), is intended to prevent misleading or inconsistent labeling of imported goods, and enhance the competitiveness of domestic vegan products in global markets by meeting internationally recognized standards. The label will also provide clarity for consumers.
Taiwan’s standards for vegan certification are in line with ISO standards.
Finalization of the rule is expected in February 2026, with full implementation of the labeling scheme planned for January 2028. TFDA is now undergoing stakeholder consultations.
Similar vegan certification labeling schemes exist in Japan and Argentina.
