New York Cheese Producer Faces Consent Decree for Listeria Contamination

FSIS, APHIS Agree to Partner on Foodborne Illness Investigations

Two agencies under the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) umbrella, the Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) and the Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS), announced May 2 that they have signed an agreement to . provide a more comprehensive, multidisciplinary approach to address foodborne health hazards potentially associated with meat and poultry products.

Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack today announced a new report on scientific breakthroughs discovered by USDA researchers that led to new patents and inventions with the potential for commercial application and potential economic growth. Among those breakthroughs are antimicrobial packets that keep food from spoiling and flour made out of chardonnay grape seeds that prevents weight gain.
