Rancho Feeding Co-Owner Pleads Guilty to Selling Meat from Sick Cattle

The co-owner of a shuttered Petaluma, CA slaughterhouse linked to a huge recall pleaded guilty Friday to charges that he helped sell meat from dairy cows with eye cancer and will work with prosecutors in their case against three others in the alleged scheme.

Consumer Advocates Call Attention to Microbes on Grocery Checkstand Belts

A consumer advocacy organization has launched a campaign to put conveyor belts at supermarket checkout stands under the microscope — literally. Called Good Armor, the group recently issued a press release noting that "shoppers place billions of products on these contaminated belts each year, exposing foods to potentially harmful yeasts, molds, and coliform bacteria."
