Rapak North America, a business unit of DS Smith Plastics and market leader in bag-in-box packaging and filling systems, has announced that two of its U.S. facilities have achieved scores of 98 out of 100 points on the SQF Edition 8.0 certification audits.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) have issued 13 warning letters to manufacturers, distributors and retailers for selling e-liquids for e-cigarette use in packaging that causes the products to resemble kid-friendly food products.

New packaging materials and technologies are available to keep snack and bakery products fresh over the course of their expected shelf life, and to actually extend that shelf life. These innovations include modified-atmosphere packaging (MAP) solutions and active packaging, often in combination with the latest packaging material technology.

CSP Technologies, Inc. has partnered with aseptic sampling specialist QualiTru Sampling Systems to develop TruDraw, a single-use aseptic sampling system for sampling of liquid dairy products. The product virtually eliminates the risk of external exposure, ensuring sampling accuracy.

Manufacturers and users of industrial packaging may not always be aware of a product’s final destination or end purpose, meaning it could become subject to regulations not considered in the original packaging selection or manufacturing process.
