Rapak North America Achieves Fourth 'Excellent' Score on SQF Certification Audit

Flexible Packaging News
June 14, 2018

Rapak North America, a business unit of DS Smith Plastics and market leader in bag-in-box packaging and filling systems, has announced that two of its U.S. facilities have achieved scores of 98 out of 100 points on the SQF Edition 8.0 certification audits.

The SQF Edition 8.0 Food Safety Code for Manufacture of Food Packaging certification illustrates Rapak’s commitment to supplying safe food packaging products and is a requirement of the company’s top food industry customers. Rapak has continually scored ‘E’ for Excellent at all locations since 2015.

Annual preparation for the audit is an ongoing process of internal audits, employee training and following daily safety practices:

  • Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) training twice a year
  • Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) daily
  • Sanitize equipment daily at the start of each shift

The SQF Edition 8.0 Code requirements are benchmarks of the Global Food Safety Initiative. SQF is an international mark of excellence for certified suppliers and a standard used by food suppliers in Europe, Africa, the Middle East, Asia, North and South America and Australasia.
