Ginger treats recalled due to undeclared sulfites

Ginger slice packages were distributed nationwide

Country Favor Inc. has announced it is recalling its 7-ounce packages of “Best Taste Brand Snack Ginger Sliced” food treats because they contain undeclared sulfites.

The products were distributed nationwide to retail stores. They are packaged in a 7-ounce, un-coded flexible plastic package. There have been no reports of illnesses or adverse reactions to date.

The recall was initiated after routine sampling and analysis revealed the presence of sulfites that were not declared on the package. Sulfites in quantities of 10 milligrams per serving can cause anaphylactic shock in sulfite-sensitive individuals. The recalled packages were found to contain 94.8 milligrams of sulfites per serving.

Consumers should throw away the product or return it to the place of purchase for a full refund. Consumers with questions can contact Country Favor Inc. at 718-418-9400.
