The Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) has appointed Elizabeth Andoh-Kesson as Director, marking the next phase of the organization's leadership following her tenure as Interim Director.

Andoh-Kesson has led GFSI as Interim Director since March 2025, overseeing the organization's work on benchmarking and harmonization of food safety certification programs, public-private partnerships, and food safety capability building. Before assuming the interim leadership position, Andoh-Kesson served in senior roles within the Consumer Goods Forum (CGF), where she worked on international government affairs and GFSI initiatives. Her experience spans food policy, regulatory affairs, stakeholder engagement, and global food safety strategy.

GFSI said Andoh-Kesson will continue leading the organization's strategic priorities, including advancing globally harmonized food safety certification programs, strengthening food safety capability, and fostering collaboration among regulators, industry, certification program owners, accreditation bodies, and other stakeholders.

Under Andoh-Kesson's leadership, GFSI has emphasized modernizing food safety systems while maintaining its mission of "Safe Food for People Everywhere." The organization has also continued efforts to strengthen trust in food safety certification, promote knowledge-sharing, and address emerging challenges affecting global food supply chains.

Read Elizabeth Andoh-Kesson's recent op-ed for Food Safety Magazine, titled, "Proactive Food Safety Management Needs to be a Strategic Business Priority," here.
