PSB Industries Introduces Oxygen Removal CO2 System

PSB Industries has introduced its Oxygen Removal CO2 system, offering a solution for the food and beverage industry, where ultra-high-purity carbon dioxide is required for carbonation, packaging, and preservation processes.
Engineered with a precious metal catalyst that operates at elevated temperatures, the Oxygen Removal CO2 unit ensures efficient and complete oxygen removal to achieve less than 1.0 parts-per-million by volume (ppmv) of residual oxygen. This performance level exceeds the requirements of most pipeline and process environments, ensuring compliance with purity standards and protecting downstream systems from contamination or performance loss.
The system incorporates a hydrogen or natural gas injection process for oxygen conversion and elimination. This design offers precise control over reaction conditions, enhancing conversion consistency and system reliability while preventing potential hazards like runaway reactions.
With the capability to handle flow rates of 3–50 million standard cubic feet per day (MMSCFD), the system accommodates both small and large-scale gas operations. Its flexibility across capacity ranges makes it ideal for facilities seeking scalable solutions that can evolve alongside production needs. The unit is engineered to operate under pressures of 100–700 pounds per square inch gauge (psig), offering seamless integration with existing carbon dioxide infrastructure and accommodating a wide range of feed gas conditions.
The system’s versatility enables users to address a range of feed compositions and contamination levels, making it an effective solution for projects prioritizing sustainability and carbon reuse.
Each system is delivered as a packaged skid, minimizing onsite construction and simplifying installation, commissioning, and maintenance. The compact, modular skid design streamlines system deployment, allowing operators to bring carbon dioxide purification capability online quickly and cost-effectively.
