GrubMarket has launched the first-ever Inventory Management AI Agent specifically designed for businesses within the food supply chain. The artificial intelligence (AI) agent is a powerful addition to GrubAssist AI, the only Enterprise AI platform for the industry, streamlining and automating critical inventory workflows for food wholesalers and distributors.

Effective inventory management for today's food supply chain businesses can be challenging. Managers must ensure adequate stock for daily order fulfillment, avoid oversupply of highly perishable items, and buy the right products from the right vendors at the right time—often handling thousands of Stock Keeping Units (SKUs). Addressing these pain points, GrubMarket's Inventory Management AI Agent performs sophisticated analyses of relevant inventory data, including stock levels, committed sales, incoming orders, product par levels, product categories, vendor preferences and costs, and fulfillment dates. Utilizing advanced browser-based agentic workflows, a model-agnostic architecture, and generative AI function-calling capabilities, the agent executes autonomous operational workflows at a high level of accuracy. These workflows can be easily customized with intuitive AI training, and strategic human-in-the-loop approval processes build trust, driving user adoption.

Built on GrubMarket's proprietary framework that leverages AI-driven, open-source virtual browsers and reinforcement learning techniques, the Inventory Management AI Agent is Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP)-agnostic, seamlessly interacting with a distributor's existing system interfaces and Application Programming Interface (API) endpoints. Through these methods, it accurately executes known tasks, ensuring smooth integration into core operational workflows.

GrubMarket's Inventory Management AI Agent is designed to support numerous agentic workflows, including:

  • Restocking and purchase order creation based on a variety of conditional factors
  • Monitoring and managing product freshness and shelf life
  • Initiating targeted promotions informed by inventory insights
  • Dynamically adjusting pricing strategies based on inventory age and supply
  • Automating team notifications.

With the Inventory Management AI Agent, GrubMarket has also introduced a new, flexible, agentic architecture to GrubAssist AI, enabling GrubMarket to support businesses with tasks ranging from managing cargo shipping, to finding new sales opportunities, to automating custom analyses, and beyond—all with the help of specialized AI agents. Furthermore, GrubMarket's Custom Agentic Workflow Builder allows users to design and implement bespoke workflows tailored specifically to their business requirements.
