The Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI)—the Consumer Goods Forum’s Coalition of Action on Food Safety—and the Department of Certification, State Administration for Market Regulation (SAMR)/Certification and Accreditation Administration of the People’s Republic of China (CNCA), have announced that the Implementation rules for Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) system certification version 2021, known as CHINA HACCP, has successfully achieved Technical Equivalence against GFSI Benchmarking Requirements version 2020.

The acknowledgement encompasses the following GFSI scopes:

  • CI Processing of Perishable Animal Products
  • CII Processing of Plant Perishable Products
  • CIII Processing of Animal and Plant Perishable Products (Mixed Products)
  • CIV Processing of Ambient Stable Products
  • E Catering.

Technical Equivalence is a category of GFSI’s benchmarking process dedicated to government-owned standards. It acknowledges the equivalence of a standard’s content to the relevant scope(s) of the GFSI Benchmarking Requirements, Part III. Unlike GFSI recognition, Technical Equivalence does not include the assessment of the program’s governance and operational management.
