WHO to Host Panel on ‘Safer Food, Better Health’ for World Food Safety Day

In honor of World Food Safety Day, the World Health Organization (WHO) will hold two panel discussions under the theme of “Safer Food, Better Health.” The event will take place on June 7, 2022 at 2:00–3:00 PM CEST (8:00 AM–9:00 AM EST).

The event will be hosted by representatives from WHO, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), and the Codex Alimentarius Commission. The first half of the event will entail a moderated panel discussion and question-and-answer session on the need to transform food systems to deliver better health outcomes. 

The second half of the event will also include a moderated panel discussion and question-and-answer session. The panel will explore how different actors throughout the food supply chain ensure the sustainable production and consumption of safe foods in different settings to improve health outcomes. The panel comprises food safety regulatory officials, nonprofit representatives, and academics from Chile, Ghana, Singapore, and India.
