Pork lard products recalled due to lack of inspection

Illinois company recalls more than 258,000 pounds of product

By Casey Laughman
Quay recall
June 25, 2018

Skokie, Ill.-based Quay Corporation is recalling more than 258,000 pounds of pork lard products that were produced without being inspected.

The packaged pork lard products were produced from July 29, 2016 to June 22, 2018. The 28-oz. sealed plastic cups of "Margarita Manteca Pork Lard" have sell by dates ranging from Jan. 29, 2017 to Dec. 22, 2018. They bear establishment number "EST. 17445" inside the USDA mark of inspection.

The problem was discovered when FSIS personnel visited the establishment after receiving information that the product was being labeled for sale without being inspected.

Consumers who have purchased the products should throw them away or return them to the place of purchase. Consumers with questions can contact the company at 847-676-4233.
