MaxLite--a global provider of energy-efficient lighting solutions--has announced the certification of its LED Vapor Tight fixtures by the NSF International for installation in food processing environments and locations with similar sanitation requirements.

To earn NSF International certification, the MaxLite Vapor Tight fixture was evaluated to verify that it met hygienic design and materials of construction requirements in accordance with the American National Standard for Food Equipment (NSF/ANSI 2). This standard covers sanitation of equipment used in the storing, preparing or handling of food and beverages. These include food and beverage processing plants as well as commercial kitchens.

The LED linear fixture is engineered to provide high quality illumination in a shatter-proof, watertight housing that can withstand the daily wash downs required to prevent bacteria growth and harborage of other contaminants in these environments, as well as the grease, oil, smoke, dust or steam that would normally decrease a luminaire’s efficiency. The Vapor Tight is listed for use in two of the three areas NSF certifies: Splash Zones--such as wet or damp processing areas in which high-pressure hose wash-downs occur; and Non-Food Zones--such as kitchens, food storage areas and dry processing areas.
