CDC Identifies Likely Source of E. coli O157:H7 Associated with Romaine Lettuce

Recent testing found the same genetic fingerprint of E. coli O157 :H7  as the outbreak strain in samples of canal water from the Yuma region. While these tests confirm that the pathogen is present in the environment, it does not identify the initial source of contamination of the romaine lettuce.

CDC Advisory: Do Not Consume Any Kellogg’s Honey Smacks Cereal

June 19, 2018
On June 14th, an initial recall notice was issued by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) warning consumers that Kellogg Company was voluntarily recalling some boxes of the brand’s popular Honey Smacks cereal. Some of the cereal packages are believed to have been contaminated with Salmonella bacteria, ultimately causing a multistate outbreak.

11th Circuit Won't Hear or Rehear Anymore Parnell Appeals

Petitions from the Parnell brothers for an appellate rehearing of their criminal convictions and sentences were denied by the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 11th Circuit in Atlanta on June 11. Further, their petitions for Rehearing En Banc were also rejected as no active judge asked to poll the Court.
