November 5, 2024

The Alliance to Stop Foodborne Illness and the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) have announced the return of their joint Food Safety Culture webinar series, kicking off in January 2025.

The series will include a new lineup of seven, hour-long, interactive webinars focused on expanding participants’ knowledge and strengthening their commitment to food safety. Like the original Food Safety Culture webinar series—which occurred between November 2021 and May 2024, with the final installation streamed live from the 2024 Food Safety Summit—each session will feature industry experts who will share valuable insights, real-world tools, and actionable strategies to enhance food safety culture across participants’ organizations.

The third webinar in the new Food Safety Culture series will be streamed live from the 2025 Food Safety Summit, taking place May 12–15 in Rosemont, Illinois.

Registration is available through SurveyMonkey. The webinars are free and offer the chance to earn one National Environmental Health Association (NEHA)-accredited continuing education credit. The topics and dates of the seven upcoming webinars are as follows:

  • January 29, 2025: Interrogate Your Assumptions—understand and verify the assumptions that underpin your company culture
  • March 19, 2025: How to Turn a Problem into an Opportunity—learn to integrate root cause analysis into the fabric of your company
  • May 2025: Live at the Food Safety Summit: Measure the Power of Declared Values—why your metrics should reinforce the values you hold
  • July 2025: Live at IAFP: Live Your Values Day by Day—how to avoid complacency through proactive, ongoing reinforcement of company values
  • September 3, 2025: Culture Change Carnival—a lightning round session that will provide tools, insights, and creative activities from industry peers to continuously improve your food safety culture
  • October 29, 2025: Understanding Artifacts—learn to spot key indicators for success with “green flags” as seen through food safety culture artifacts
  • December 17, 2025: The Wrap-Up: Bringing it all Together—reflect on the key learnings of the series and look toward the future with actionable strategies for positive change.

Hear from FDA and industry leaders who will dive deep into critical aspects of food safety culture, from the basic assumptions that underpin an organization’s food safety work, to the messages and programs that support an organization’s food safety culture. Participants will walk away with actionable strategies to improve their companies' food safety cultures, as well as approaches to address common misconceptions that can impact food safety behavior in day-to-day operations.

Update, January 29, 2025: Following the Trump Administration's orders to federal public health agencies to pause all external communications, the Stop Foodborne Illness/FDA webinar series has been put on hold until further notice.

Update, March 6, 2025: The Alliance to Stop Foodborne Illness has announced that its joint webinar series with FDA will take place, beginning on March 19 with Webinar 1, "How to Turn a Problem into an Opportunity—learn to integrate root cause analysis into the fabric of your company." Dates and times of webinars taking place throughout the year and registration can be accessed here.

Update, March 18, 2025: The Alliance to Stop Foodborne Illness has announced that its joint webinar series with FDA is once again on hold. Webinar 1, "How to Turn a Problem into an Opportunity—learn to integrate root cause analysis into the fabric of your company" has been canceled.
