Growers Express recalled Trader Joe’s sweet potato and zucchini spirals and other bagged, chopped fresh vegetables for possible listeria contamination.

The recall includes some Green Giant Fresh vegetables, including sweet potato and cauliflower crumbles and diced butternut squash. A butternut squash veggie bowl also is included. The Trader Joe’s products were sold in numerous states, while the other recalled items were sold at various stores in the Northeast and the Carolinas. The company stopped production and reported the need for the recall to the FDA right after being notified of a single positive Listeria monocytogenes sample by the Massachusetts Department of Health, Growers Express President Tom Byrne says in the recall announcement. The company issued the recall “in an abundance of caution.”

“We are deep sanitizing the entire facility and our line equipment, as well as conducting continued testing on top of our usual battery of sanitation and quality and safety tests before resuming production,” Byrne says.

The products came from a facility in Biddeford, Maine. Most have best by dates of June 26–June 29. The recall doesn’t include any Green Giant canned or frozen vegetables.

No illnesses were reported at the time of the announcement. People should throw away the recalled products. Call the toll-free number on each package with questions or to request a refund.
