200 million eggs recalled due to potential Salmonella

Eggs believed to be cause of outbreak in nine states

More than 200 million eggs have been recalled after being identified as the possible source of a Salmonella outbreak.

The eggs were produced by a Rose Acre Farms facility in North Carolina. After a cluster of Salmonella Braenderup infections in nine states, investigations showed that eggs were a possible cause. Inspection and testing of the Rose Acre Farms facility found a sample containing Salmonella that matched the rare outbreak strain.

The eggs were distributed to retail stores and restaurants in Colorado, Florida, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Virginia and West Virginia. They have plant number P-1065 and Julian dates of 011 through 102 printed on the carton.

There have been 23 illnesses reported, with six hospitalizations and no deaths. Consumers who purchased the eggs should return them to the place of purchase for a full refund. Consumers with questions may contact the company at 855-215-5730.
