SPG Launches FoodProtect Series of Cutting Tools for Food Processing Facilities

Safety Products Global (SPG) has launched the FoodProtect Series, a portfolio of cutting tools and accessories designed for food processing and manufacturing facilities. The system combines products from the company's Klever, PHC, and Slice brands to help food manufacturers standardize cutting tools used throughout production operations.

The FoodProtect Series was developed to support food safety, quality assurance, and operations teams by providing cutting tools intended to help manage biological, chemical, and physical contamination risks associated with routine cutting tasks.

Including 22 NSF-certified, metal-detectable stock keeping units (SKUs) at launch, the series is intended to support hazard control by offering products with features such as metal-detectable blades and handles, NSF-certified designs for food and non-food zones, and KLEEN antimicrobial protection, which is certified under ISO 22196.

SPG said these features can support facilities seeking to document cutting tools as part of their food safety and preventive control programs.

The portfolio also includes concealed-blade safety cutters designed to reduce worker exposure to cutting injuries.

The FoodProtect Series is intended to help facilities replace multiple types of utility knives with a standardized set of safety cutters, simplifying procurement and promoting consistency across production lines and facilities.

The FoodProtect Series includes the Klever ExcelXD MD concealed safety cutter and the PHC Metal Detectable Coil Lanyard. The Klever ExcelXD MD is a metal-detectable concealed safety cutter featuring Smooth-Kut technology, which is designed to reduce corrugated material buildup while cutting double-wall corrugate. The PHC Metal Detectable Coil Lanyard provides workers with up to four feet of reach while helping reduce the risk of dropped or misplaced tools in food production environments.
