Eagle Introduces Pack 1000 PRO for X-Ray Inspection of Large Cases, Multipacks

As food manufacturers increasingly use large cases, mixed packs, and multipack configurations, maintaining consistent foreign material detection and quality inspection at the secondary packaging stage has become more challenging. Under the Preventive Controls requirements of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s (FDA's) Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA), manufacturers are expected to maintain documented, repeatable foreign material detection throughout production.
Eagle Product Inspection designed the Pack 1000 PRO X-ray inspection to address regulatory compliance challenges by providing contaminant detection and inline quality control for large boxes and cases containing multiple individually wrapped food products.
The Pack 1000 PRO provides 1,000 millimeters (39.3 inches) of inspection coverage and supports belt speeds of up to 76 meters per minute (250 feet per minute). An optional integrated barcode reader enables inspection of mixed cases and supports multilane production environments.
Eagle said the system is designed to:
- Inspect large boxes, cases, and mixed-case configurations at high production speeds
- Support mixed-case and multilane inspection applications
- Perform inline quality control functions, including mass measurement, package integrity verification, broken product detection, and component count verification
- Generate inspection documentation to support FSMA Preventive Controls verification activities
Overall, the Pack 1000 PRO was developed to help food processors address evolving inspection requirements for secondary packaging through X-ray inspection technology designed for high-throughput production environments.
