IAFNS Offers Paid Summer Fellowship for Food Safety, Nutrition Sciences Research
The Institute for the Advancement of Food and Nutrition Sciences (IAFNS) is seeking applicants for a paid, part-time fellowship focused on food safety or nutritional sciences.
The fellowship may run 8–12 weeks and may take place any time between May 1 and September 30, 2026.
The fellowship is an opportunity to work with scientists in government, industry, and academia as a paid apprentice to learn more about how multi-sector science collaborations make an impact. Students are asked to meet the challenges of the food and beverage ecosystem by leading a specific project.
Project areas for 2026 include:
- Reducing Heavy Metals and Toxic Elements: Building upon IAFNS-funded research, deliverables from the project may include fact sheets, whitepapers, or a brief video for select audiences
- Frameworks to Identify Indicators of High-Quality Science: By synthesizing existing best practice frameworks, the deliverables from this project may include the development of a practical, user-friendly tool that helps researchers and other stakeholders identify high-quality science.
The position is offered as a remote role.
To be eligible for the Summer Research Opportunity Fellowship, a candidate must currently be a graduate student and able to work in the U.S. or Canada.
