Meat Plant Owner and HACCP Manager Plead Guilty to Falsifying E. coli Test Results

September 25, 2019
The U.S. Attorney’s Office in Connecticut has announced that Memet Beqiri, 32, owner and general manager of New England Meat Packing, LLC, and Debbie Smith, 60, the company’s former Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) coordinator/quality control officer, both pleaded guilty to falsifying numerous Escherichia coli test results.

FDA Announces Joint Venture to Study Human Pathogens in Yuma Region Leafy Greens

A new joint initiative between the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the Arizona Department of Agriculture, the University of Arizona Cooperative Extension (UACE), the Wellton-Mohawk Irrigation and Drainage District (WMIDD), and various members of the Yuma, AZ, leafy greens industry will review the ecology of human pathogens in the environment in the Yuma agricultural region.
