18 Ill and One Dead After Cargill Ground Beef E. coli Outbreak

September 21, 2018
On September 19, the U.S. Department of Agriculture Food Safety and Inspection Service (USDA FSIS) issued a notice that Fort Morgan, CO-based Cargill Meat Solutions is recalling over 132,000 pounds (66 tons) of ground beef products made from the chuck portion of the carcass that may be contaminated with  Shiga toxin-producing Escherichia coli O26 bacteria.

Inadequate Cooking and Handling Partly to Blame for Persistent Salmonella Illnesses in Canada

To help combat these ongoing illnesses, the Government of Canada is partnering with the food manufacturing industry and food retailers to reduce Salmonella in frozen raw breaded chicken products produced on or after April 1, 2019, to below detectable amounts, thereby reducing the risk of illness for everyone who handles or consumes these types of products.
