Applications Open for EFSA’s Next Executive Director

The European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) is in search of its next Executive Director. Interested candidates are invited to apply by September 27, 2024, at 12:00 P.M. CEST. The detailed job description, requirements, and application can be accessed via the vacancy notice.
The Executive Director is the legal representative and public face of EFSA and is accountable to the EFSA Management Board. They lead and manage the agency and have the overall responsibility for its operations. Appointments last for a period of five years, renewable once for an additional period of five years.
The Executive Director will be appointed by EFSA’s Management Board on the basis of a shortlist provided by the European Commission, following the selection process.
EFSA’s Acting Executive Director, Dr. Bernhard Url, was appointed to his current position after his mandate for a second term in office ended in May 2024.
