Mobile Label-Scanning App Communicates Food Product Recall Information
Yuka, a mobile app that provides users with information about product labels, now includes a feature that addresses the need for timely food recall information by alerting users of active product recalls issued by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
When a recalled product is scanned or searched within the Yuka app, a pop-up message will display that links to the associated FDA recall alert. Yuka will also email users who have scanned a recalled product within two weeks prior to the recall alert being issued to inform them that a product they might have purchased is no longer safe for consumption.
