Maywood, IL-based Morris Meat Packing has recalled 515,000 pounds of various raw, intact pork products that were produced without the benefit of federal inspection, says the U.S. Department of Agriculture Food Safety and Inspection Service (USDA FSIS). The recalled products were also produced outside of approved inspection hours.
The pork items in question were produced between November 2017 and November 2019. They all bear establishment number “EST. 18267” inside the USDA mark of inspection. These items were shipped to distributors and retail locations in Illinois.
USDA FSIS received an anonymous tip that Morris Meat Packing was producing products without the benefit of inspection.
Despite what’s been uncovered, Morris Meat Packing’s Google reviews were mostly positive until recent events.
There have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions due to consumption of the recalled products.
FSIS is concerned that some product may be in consumers’ refrigerators or freezers. Consumers who have purchased these products are urged not to consume them. These products should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase.
