NETZSCH Announces NEMO® Progressing Cavity Pump for Dairy Applications

November 14, 2018

NETZSCH Pumps North America and its German headquarters NETZSCH Pumps & Systems haS announced that the company’s NEMO® progressing cavity pumps are ideal for dairy applications. NEMO pumps gently convey products of high viscosity—with or without solid content—in an almost pulsation-free manner. This makes them a good choice for handling and conveying a variety of dairy products, including yogurt, cream, pudding, and sweetened condensed milk.

Crevice-free construction and polished surfaces make these sanitary and aseptic pumps capable of meeting the demanding hygienic standards of leading dairy companies. In addition, the pumps are designed with cleaning-in-place or sterilized with steam sterilization-in-place ports for easy cleaning.

NEMO pumps offer dairy producers continuous, pressure-stable, gentle and low-pulsation pumping and metering in proportion to speed. The block pump construction with flanged drive is particularly compact and economical to operate. The pump significantly reduces downtime, resulting in time, labor, and money savings.

NEMO pumps are designed, produced and inspected in accordance with European Hygienic Equipment Design Group regulations. Materials used comply with U.S. Food and Drug Administration requirements. NEMO hygienic and aseptic pumps also meet 3-A Sanitary Standards specifications.

The NEMO pump features a flexible rod design that eliminates the need for lubrication and protection against mechanical damage or corrosion. Since there is no wear and lubrication required, there is no risk of product contamination. The patented flexible rod design is free from crevices and dead spaces, and is often used to produce foodstuffs. Made from special steel, the flexible rod is designed for 10 million load changes. It has the inherent strength to transmit the required drive, with the flexibility to withstand the eccentric motion of the rotor. The material’s other advantage is its resistance to most chemical compounds.
