Thermo Fisher Scientific Launches GENESYS G5 UV-Visible Spectrophotometer Series

Thermo Fisher Scientific has introduced the Thermo Scientific GENESYS G5 series of visible and ultraviolet-visible (UV-Vis) spectrophotometers, a platform designed to support routine laboratory testing and accommodate evolving analytical requirements. The series includes the GENESYS G5 Vis, GENESYS G5 UV-Vis, and GENESYS G5 UV-Vis Pro models.
The spectrophotometers are intended to help laboratories standardize workflows, perform multiple UV-Vis analyses on a single platform, and improve consistency across testing methods. The systems are also designed for academic and teaching laboratories, providing students with experience using UV-Vis instrumentation commonly found in industry.
Thermo Fisher Scientific said the GENESYS G5 series features an expanded software ecosystem with optional application-specific packages for water analysis, food and beverage testing, life sciences, and color measurement. The software includes guided workflows and preconfigured methods intended to reduce setup time and improve consistency. For example, water laboratories can perform routine nutrient and contaminant analyses, while food and beverage manufacturers can use the platform for quality control testing across production environments.
According to the company, the GENESYS G5 series can be used in a variety of laboratory settings, including water quality testing and environmental monitoring, food and beverage quality control, chemical analysis, life sciences research, and university teaching laboratories.
Key features of the platform include:
- Optional software packages for water analysis, food and beverage testing, and life sciences with preconfigured methods and guided workflows
- Compatibility with accessories such as cell changers, Peltier temperature control, sippers, and fiber optic probes to support automated and application-specific workflows
- Data management and connectivity options, including USB, network, cloud, laboratory information management system (LIMS), and optional PC software integration
- Support for federal data integrity requirements (21 CFR Part 11) when used with Thermo Scientific SciVault 2 software, including user access controls, audit trails, and electronic signatures.
