Foundation FSSC’s FSSC 22000 has completed the Consumer Goods Forum's Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) benchmarking process for Version 6 of the scheme and has achieved recognition against GFSI Benchmarking Requirements v2020 as of August 23, 2024.

FSSC 22000 Version 6 is owned and governed by Foundation FSSC and outlines the requirements for the audit and certification of an organization's food safety management system (FSMS). Version 6 of the scheme was published on March 31, 2023 and became mandatory on April 1, 2024. Foundation FSSC developed Version 6 to integrate the latest requirements of ISO 22003-1:2022 and strengthen the framework to better support organizations in aligning their operations with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), ensuring the scheme continues to meet evolving global food safety standards and sustainability objectives.

The GFSI recognition of FSSC 22000 Version 6 encompasses the following GFSI scopes:

  • BIII–Pre-process Handling of Plant Products
  • CO–Animal Primary Conversion
  • CI–Processing of Perishable Animal Products
  • CII–Processing of Perishable Plant Products
  • CIII–Processing of Perishable Animal and Plant Products (Mixed Products)
  • CIV–Processing of Ambient Stable Animal and Plant Products (Mixed Products)
  • D–Production of Feed
  • G–Provision of Storage and Distribution Services
  • I–Production of Food Packaging
  • K–Production of (Bio) Chemicals and Bio-Cultures Used as Food Ingredients or Processing Aids in Food Production.
