Nature’s One recalled PediaSmart Soy Vanilla Beverage Mix after learning in a routine vendor document review that milk or a milk derivative was added to the natural flavor, the company announced.

Third-party labs that test lots for milk allergen before sale did not detect any milk allergen, the Lewis Center, Ohio, business says. But the company issued the recall because milk is not listed on the label statement about allergens that the product contains.

Even though testing did not detect milk allergen, labeling laws require that milk is listed in the “contains” statement, Nature’s One says.

The meal replacement product was distributed nationwide and to Canada through online retailers and medical supply distributors. The product was not sold in retail stores.

The powder comes in 12.7-ounce canisters. Lot numbers in the recall are: PSV 7271 MI1 (use by Sept. 1, 2019), PSV 8078 MI1 (use by March 1, 2020), PSV 8274 MI1 (use by Oct. 1, 2020), and PSV 9105 MI1 (use by April 1, 2021).

Lot PSV 9105 MI1 (use by April 1, 2021) with corrected label is not part of recall.

The company recalled the product “out of an abundance of caution,” says its announcement distributed by the FDA.

No illnesses had been reported at the time of the announcement.

People with the product can return it to Nature’s One for a properly labeled replacement, discard it or request a refund.
