The Institute for the Advancement of Food and Nutrition Sciences (IAFNS) is offering free webinars in January 2024 to examine new technologies, science, and efforts to address the roles that sodium plays in foods, including how sodium factors into food safety and quality. The webinars are part of IAFNS' broader effort to share useful information with nonprofits, researchers, consumer groups, industry, and government leaders on new innovations on the topic.

From January 22–31, 2024, IAFNS will host its Sodium in the Food Supply Webinar Series to share new developments and tools that could enhance understanding across sectors. The webinars will focus on how to leverage technology, substitutes, education, and monitoring to make public health progress.

Notably, on Thursday, January 25, from 1:00–2:00 P.M. ET, a webinar titled, “Effects of Sodium Reduction on Food Safety and Quality,” will take place. Registration can be found on IAFNS’ website.

The Sodium in the Food Supply Webinar Series is a check-in on industry progress and the latest research, technology, and emerging science that is available for consideration in shaping future progress and public health recommendations. The series is intended to identify and help the food sector reach new and more nuanced understandings of sodium.
