Cargill Meat Solutions recalls ground beef due to possible E. coli

Products were shipped to retail locations nationwide

Cargill Meat Solutions is recalling more than 132,000 pounds of ground beef that may be contaminated with E. coli.

The products were produced and packaged on June 21, 2018, and bear establishment number "EST. 86R" inside the USDA mark of inspection. The items were shipped to retail locations nationwide.

The recall was initiated after an investigation by FSIS, CDC and state public health and agriculture partners determined that raw ground beef was the probable source of reported illnesses. FSIS traceback information indicated that patients had consumed ground beef products supplied by Cargill Meat Solutions. There have been 17 reported illnesses and one death to date.

Consumers who have purchased these products are urged not to consume them. These products should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase. Consumers with questions regarding the recall can call 1-844-419-1574.
