Wherefour Updates ERP Platform for Manufacturers with AI Capabilities

Wherefour has launched artificial intelligence (AI) features for accessing manufacturing data and supporting compliance workflows across its enterprise resource planning (ERP) platform for batch and process manufacturers.

The new capabilities include a Model Context Protocol (MCP) Connector that links MCP-compatible AI tools, including Claude and ChatGPT, with a customer’s Wherefour account. The connector provides read-only access to data related to inventory, production, purchasing, sales, and traceability.

According to Wherefour, users can query their manufacturing data using natural language to retrieve information, analyze trends, answer operational questions, and develop dashboards. Wherefour remains the system of record.

Wherefour has also expanded its AI capabilities for regulatory compliance and quality workflows. The tools generate suggested configurations or information that users can review and approve before implementation.

The new and existing features include:

  • Document Auto-Tagging: AI analyzes uploaded documents, such as certificates of analysis (COAs), and suggests tags including lot number, barcode, invoice, location, customer, and vendor. Users can accept, edit, or remove suggested tags.

  • AI Control Points: Users describe the control points required for a process, and AI generates a draft. Each control point must be reviewed and approved before use.

  • AI Test Definitions: Users describe a quality test, and AI drafts fields, field types, required fields, and validation rules. Users review and approve the configuration before implementation.

The MCP Connector, Document Auto-Tagging, AI Control Points, and AI Test Definitions are now available to Wherefour customers. According to the company, all AI features are disabled by default, allowing customers to determine whether and when to introduce the tools into their workflows.
