Specim Introduces Enhanced VINR Hyperspectral Camera

Specim has launched the SX10, a visible and near-infrared (VNIR) hyperspectral camera designed for research and industrial imaging applications, including food research.
The SX10, the second camera in Specim’s SX series, covers the 400–1,000-nanometer (nm) spectral range. According to Specim, the camera combines a high spatial pixel count, signal-to-noise performance, and fine spectral resolution to capture spatial and spectral detail. High-speed GigE connectivity and compatibility with Specim scanners and software are intended to support integration into research and industrial imaging systems.
Compared with the Specim FX10, the SX10 provides three times more spectral bands and three times finer spectral sampling. The SX10 also supports multiple lens options and adjustable working distances. A macro lens option is available for imaging small samples and fine features in laboratory and close-range measurement applications.
Additionally, the SX10 includes Specim’s built-in Advanced Image Enhancement (AIE), which the company said produces data that require less post-processing, potentially shortening the workflow between image acquisition and analysis.
Additionally, unified spectral calibration aligns SX10 cameras to a common spectral reference. According to Specim, the calibration is intended to improve the consistency and repeatability of measurements across multiple camera units, which may be useful for multi-system research, distributed measurement setups, and larger deployments requiring comparable results between systems.
