Food Freshness Card Now Available for Commercial Applications to Reduce Produce Shrink, Food Waste

Nature’s Frequencies has relaunched its Food Freshness Card for commercial applications across the fresh food supply chain, with a focus on reducing produce shrink and food waste.
The Food Freshness Card was originally introduced prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, but broader commercial expansion was tabled amid disruption to the grocery industry. In the intervening years, the technology was primarily available as a personal-size card sold directly to consumers online.
In early 2026, Nature’s Frequencies relaunched the Food Freshness Card for commercial use by produce growers, distributors, retailers, restaurants, and foodservice operators.
Since the relaunch, the companies have completed several commercial installations in retail produce departments during spring 2026 and are collecting ongoing data on produce shrink reduction.
Passive Technology Designed to Extend Freshness
The Food Freshness Card is a passive technology designed to extend the usable freshness of produce and other perishable foods without electricity, chemicals, additives, filters, or ongoing maintenance.
According to Nature’s Frequencies, independent third-party laboratory testing has demonstrated freshness improvements of up to 50 percent for tested produce and bread. The company also reported that commercial retail programs have documented produce shrink reductions ranging from 23–47 percent.
The technology is manufactured in the U.S. under three U.S. patents.

Commercial Food Freshness Cards can be deployed in produce coolers, packing facilities, storage rooms, refrigerated transportation environments, distribution centers, retail displays, restaurant walk-ins, commercial kitchens, and other fresh food environments.
Because the technology is passive, the cards can be incorporated into existing storage and refrigeration environments without requiring additional electricity, replacement filters, or active mechanical systems.
Targeting Food Waste and Produce Shrink
The commercial relaunch comes amid ongoing efforts throughout the food industry to reduce food waste while improving supply chain efficiency and sustainability.
For growers and postharvest operations, extending product freshness could provide additional time to pack, transport, and sell harvested products. For distributors and retailers, the technology is intended to support inventory management and reduce losses associated with spoilage and shrink. Restaurants and foodservice operations could similarly use the cards in refrigerated storage environments.
Nature’s Frequencies also positioned the technology as a means of reducing the resources associated with food that is ultimately discarded, including water, energy, packaging, transportation, refrigeration, storage, and labor.
Nature’s Frequencies is continuing commercial deployment of the Food Freshness Card across fresh food supply chain applications. Data from the commercial installations initiated following the 2026 relaunch are also being collected to evaluate produce shrink reduction in operating retail environments.
