Motive Announces Door and Environmental Sensor for Transportation, Cold Chain Visibility

Motive has introduced the Door and Environmental Sensor, a wireless device designed to monitor environmental conditions in the cargo area and trailer door activity for fleets transporting temperature-sensitive or high-value goods.
The sensor combines temperature, humidity, and door-status monitoring in a single device. It integrates with the Motive platform to provide real-time visibility into cargo conditions and door activity during transit.
The device is intended to support reefer monitoring and cargo security by tracking environmental conditions, recording door open and close events, and linking those events to drivers, vehicles, and routes.
The sensor is part of Motive’s reefer monitoring offering, which also includes the Environmental Sensor for multi-zone temperature and humidity tracking, Asset Gateway Mini and Vehicle Gateway telematics devices, and original equipment manufacturer (OEM) integrations with Carrier and Thermo King refrigeration systems.
The system can also support alert workflows for temperature excursions and unauthorized door openings, including notifications tied to geofenced locations.
The device connects wirelessly with Motive gateways and integrates with the company’s Fleet Dashboard and Driver App, where drivers can view cargo conditions and share reefer logs during deliveries.
