Research performed and communicated by Extension specialists is key to understanding the relationship between food, food packaging, and SARS-CoV-2.

Citations were issued to food processors, meatpackers, agricultural entities, and retailers.  

The pandemic has forced companies to adapt their modes of operation and work together at an unprecedented rate.

The checklist is useful for persons growing, harvesting, packing, manufacturing, processing, or holding human and animal food regulated by FDA. 

During the 2-year alliance, participants will develop information on recognizing coronavirus transmission risks and best practices for preventing transmission, and on challenges for exposure control in meatpacking and processing facilities. 

The Summit will start on Monday, October 19 with an opening session on COVID-19: The New Normal for the Food Industry.  

Recognizing the unique situation COVID-19 has created for both industry and regulators, the FDA intends to begin routine inspections of small businesses under the IA rule in March 2021. 

"At this time, we are working toward the goal of restarting on-site inspections during the week of July 20."
