The United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) and the Australian Department of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Forestry are joining forces to organize an international forum on data-driven innovation in food safety, including current remote audit and verification practices in regulatory frameworks. The upcoming Vienna Food Safety Forum will take place October 3–5, 2022 in a hybrid format with both face-to-face and online sessions.

The forum will allow food safety stakeholders, such as competent authorities, industry, the service sector, and academia, to explore the most recent developments in data-driven food safety innovation. The forum will also focus on solutions for remote auditing and verification, electronic health certificates, and data generated by voluntary third-party assurance programs.

UNIDO’s cooperation with the Australian government builds on the organization’s longstanding engagement with the Standards and Trade Development Facility (STDF) on remote inspection.
