Rethinking Food Safety: Eliminating Biofilm and Building a Smarter Food Safety System

KEYWORDS: biofilm / chemical safety / decontamination / food safety systems / pathogen detection
6/25/26 2:00 pm to 6/25/27 EDT
Contact: Vania Halabou

Traditional sanitation methods were not designed to address the full complexity of today’s food safety challenges. Persistent pathogens, biofilm formation, and harsh chemical limitations continue to create risk across food production environments from farm to processing facilities.

In this webinar, NomadX will introduce a modern approach to decontamination that goes beyond surface-level cleaning. Learn how ultra-pure chlorine dioxide (ClO257) is being deployed to effectively penetrate biofilm, reduce pathogen load, and integrate into real-world operational workflows without the drawbacks of legacy products. The session will also touch on how advanced decontamination fits into a broader, proactive food safety system—where improved sanitation, enhanced sampling, and emerging same-shift pathogen detection capabilities work together to help ensure contaminated product never leaves the facility.

Key takeaways:

  • Why traditional sanitation methods fall short against biofilm and persistent pathogens
  • How ClO257 differs from other sanitation products in efficacy and usability
  • Practical applications across food production environments (water lines, equipment, facilities)
  • How decontamination integrates into a broader food safety system, including emerging same-shift detection

Speakers:

Lyle Probst, M.B.A., Chief Executive Officer, NomadX. Lyle Probst is a biologist by training and an accomplished entrepreneur and executive with over two decades of experience across operations, product development, and process engineering. He has founded and scaled multiple companies in biotech, manufacturing, and biodefense. At NomadX, Lyle leads the company’s mission to transform food safety through an integrated approach spanning decontamination, enhanced sampling and concentration methods, and same-shift detection.

Kimothy Smith, D.V.M., Ph.D., Chief Scientific Officer, NomadX. Dr. Kimothy Smith is a veterinarian and Ph.D. epidemiologist with deep expertise in microbiology, infectious disease, and biosurveillance. He has held leadership roles in both government and academia, including work in biodefense and public health surveillance. At NomadX, he leads scientific strategy and validation efforts, ensuring that the company's technologies meet rigorous regulatory and operational standards across the food safety ecosystem.
