The UK Food Standards Agency (FSA) is inviting food businesses that are interested in applying for cell-based product authorization to complete a survey that will help the agency fine-tune its regulatory process and better understand the different cell culture technologies in use by industry. The survey is open until Monday, February 5, 2024.
Due to the novelty and complexity of applications for lab-grown foods, FSA and Food Standards Scotland (FSS) are working to consider how future applications should be regulated and if changes to the existing regulated products authorization process may be necessary. To help prepare for future applications and inform regulatory policy, FSA and FSS have designed the survey to gather information from companies producing cell-cultivated products that will be submitted for regulatory approval in the UK.
