To help safeguard electrical systems against leaks and contaminants in food and beverage operations, ABB Installation Products has expanded its portfolio of solutions to include the T&B Fittings® Stainless Cylinder Conduit Hub and Stainless Dome Drain, as well as the T&B Liquidtight Systems® Type A Solutions conduit and fittings.

Designed to protect electrical systems in demanding and contamination-sensitive environments, ABB’s T&B Fittings Stainless Cylinder Conduit Hub and Stainless Dome Drain are made of 316 stainless steel with a fully curved surface to promote water runoff, hygiene, and corrosion resistance. ABB’s T&B Liquidtight Systems Type A solutions include stainless steel fittings, non-metallic fittings, and flexible non-metallic conduit with an antimicrobial jacket to help protect systems by inhibiting bacterial growth on the conduit.

Rated for wet and damp processing areas and splash zones, ABB’s latest innovations food and beverage industry quality and safety standards. The solutions are NSF-certified, UL Type 4X listed, and extensively tested to IEC requirements for ingress protection and the ability to withstand intensive cleaning and high-pressure washdowns.

T&B Fittings® Stainless Cylinder Conduit Hub

Traditional conduit hubs have exposed threads, gaps, creases, and crevices where contaminants can collect. The smooth, rounded surface and UL Type 4X connection of ABB’s T&B Fittings Stainless Cylinder Conduit Hub minimizes gaps between conduit and enclosure to help prevent liquid pooling and contamination points. The hub is IEC IP66 and IP67 rated and can be temporarily submerged. An NSF-certified TPE sealing ring covers and helps protect exposed threads from bacteria accumulation and growth.

T&B Fittings® Stainless Dome Drain

Unlike designs that require standing water of up to a half-inch before draining, ABB’s T&B Fittings Stainless Dome Drains have slotted threads and locknut irrigation for instant drainage, regardless of water level. Engineered of 316 stainless steel for hygiene and corrosion resistance, the drain is IEC IP56 rated with all-rounded components for 360-degree cleanability and water run-off to help eliminate the build-up of moisture and microbes. An optional screen prevents contaminants from clogging the drain.

T&B Liquidtight Systems® Type A Solutions

Developed for food and beverage installations, ABB’s expanded portfolio of T&B Liquidtight Systems Type A Solutions include flexible non-metallic conduit and non-metallic and stainless steel fittings. The Type A T&B Liquidtight fittings are expanding the offering for straight, 45- and 90-degree elbows in trade sizes half-inch to 2 inches. T&B Liquidtight Systems Type A reinforced, heavy-duty non-metallic conduit is available with an antimicrobial jacket to inhibit bacterial growth on the conduit.

The T&B System Solutions for Type A conduit and fittings are designed and tested to deliver long-lasting performance and cable protection, as well as address critical application considerations such as material specifications, trade sizes, corrosive chemicals and cleaning protocols, temperature and ingress ratings, and other applications requirements. The Type A fittings are UL Type 4/4X/12 and IEC IP69 rated, covering dust environments, UL hose test liquid ingress, and IEC high-pressure washer performance requirements.

ABB notes that T&B Liquidtight Systems® Type A flexible non-metallic conduit with an antimicrobial jacket provides no antimicrobial inhibitory activity beyond the protection of the conduit.
