Fresh Express recently unveiled a behind-the-scenes look at advancements it has made in its food safety and quality (FSQ) program. The newly released video series covers critical controls and procedures that affect the entire supply chain, from field to table.

According to Fresh Express, the video series was produced to highlight the intricacies behind the company’s FSQ program. With the series, Fresh Express aims to bring to life the challenges that the company faces and surmounts to achieve its demanding FSQ goals. For instance, the video series depicts the company’s AgOps team, its “boots on the ground” safety surveillance efforts, progressive technologies, comprehensive manufacturing developments, and the trained FSQ professionals in each of Fresh Express’ regional facilities.

Inclusive of details about how Fresh Express sets and implements innovative safety standards, the video series reveals specifics that, until present day, were only available through limited, pre-arranged tours. However, both the fresh produce industry and the general public can now view the processes and measures followed by Fresh Express growers, harvesters, and dedicated employees as leafy greens make their journey to become Fresh Express salads.

Spearheaded by Fresh Express President, John P. Olivo, and Vice President of Food Safety and Quality, John Gurrisi, the video series features crucial steps to ensure strict product safety and integrity at field and facility levels. The videos also highlight the company’s latest advancements in product research and development, including the debut of its new Fresh Express Product Innovation and Culinary Center.

Update, August 9, 2022: Fresh Express has released three more videos in its Food Safety & Quality series:

  • "Chapter 3: To Your Table" highlights the company's traceability and reporting processes, including source data, RFID tags, and unique packaging information
  • "Traceability: Where Salads Grow & Where They Go" follows Fresh Express food products and ingredients through all steps in the supply chain
  • "Fresh Express Salad Bowl Kits" showcases technology and food safety for on-the-go meal solutions and single-serve salad bowl kits produced at the Fresh Express facility in Morrow, Georgia.

Fresh Express also updated its website with information on sustainability practices and commitments. The new online content is timed with the company's second annual Fresh On the Go promotion.
