More than 26,000 people have signed a petition on Care2.com urging coffee giant Starbucks to cut ties with organizations that oppose labeling for genetically modified organisms (GMOs). Specifically, the petition asks Starbucks to stop using milk from GMO-fed cows and to end their relationship with the Grocery Manufacturer’s Association, a group that’s currently trying to overturn the state of Vermont’s mandatory GMO labeling law.
Supporters of the petition say that the Starbucks’ history of upholding green issues and making both organic and vegan menu items widely available doesn’t jive with their position on GMOs.
