Pillsbury, a brand under the General Mills umbrella, has announced the launch of refrigerated cookie and brownie dough that is “safe to eat raw.”

The Ready to Bake Cookie Dough products are now "safe to eat raw", says Pillsbury, but it’s the same cookie dough consumers have become accustomed to. The difference is a refined process and ingredients, so it's safe to eat the dough before baking. The dough will still bake up the same as Pillsbury’s classic cookie dough.

The “safe to eat raw” products are made using heat-treated flour and pasteurized eggs, making it safe to consume either baked or straight from the package.

Pillsbury’s variety of refrigerated cookie and brownie dough is being fully transitioned to "safe to eat raw". Pillsbury’s Ready to Bake!™ Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough, Place & Bake™ Brownie Dough, and more have the Pillsbury “safe to eat raw” seal on the packaging and are available at grocery retailers nationwide.

Pillsbury has teamed up with former Disney star Hilary Duff to promote a social media campaign using the hashtag #SayYesChallenge to get the word out about the new “safe to eat raw” products.
