The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) recently published the results of three targeted sampling and testing assignments to determine the presence of Bisphenol A (BPA) and undeclared allergens in select foods at retail.
According to the latest recall data published by Food Standards Australia New Zealand (FSANZ), from 2019–2023, undeclared allergens were the leading cause of food recalls in Australia. FSANZ has identified the root causes for these recalls.
ATHERSTONE FOODS INC of Richmond, CA is recalling 14.6 ounce (414g) Greens and Grains Hummus and Quinoa Tabouleh Wrap, because it may contain undeclared soy.
In 2007, there were only 14 recalls involving undeclared allergens in U.S. Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS)-regulated foods. This year, there have already been 60 recalls involving nearly 10 million pounds of product.
