FAO, WHO Call for Experts and Data on Listeria in Food
The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and the World Health Organization (WHO) have announced a call for experts and data on Listeria monocytogenes in food. The opportunity is offered by the Joint FAO/WHO Expert Meeting on Microbiological Risk Assessment (JERMA).
Selected candidates will partake in an expert meeting to develop a new, farm-to-table risk assessment model for L. monocytogenes. The expert meeting will inform a possible future revision to the Codex Alimentarius Commission’s “Guidelines on the Application of General Principles of Food Hygiene to the Control of Listeria monocytogenes in Foods” (CXG 61-2007). The assessment will focus on, but is not limited to, leafy greens, cantaloupe, frozen vegetables, and certain types of ready-to-eat seafood.
