Scotch-Brite™ Quick Clean Griddle Cleaning System Cleans 40% Faster Than Leading Competitive System

June 4, 2015

In a recent study, the Scotch-Brite™ Quick Clean Griddle Cleaning System cleaned a food soiled griddle 40 percent faster than the leading competitive griddle cleaning system, based on time to clean equivalently soiled griddle surfaces.

3M’s griddle cleaning system evaluation and testing research was conducted on a standard size commercial flat top griddle. For the study, a 12” x 12” area of the griddle surface was soiled with a food soil mixture made of common food ingredients and baked for one hour at 350°F. Both systems were used as directed to clean the griddle surface. 3M measured the time it took to scour until all burnt food soil was loosened and squeegeed off.

Results showed the Scotch-Brite™ Quick Clean Griddle Cleaning System cleaned the griddle in an average of 66 seconds compared to the leading competitor’s average of 126 seconds.

Just 3 Easy Steps to a Clean Griddle
The Scotch-Brite™ Quick Clean Griddle Cleaning System is faster, safer, and easier to use than traditional griddle cleaning products such as bricks and screens. Using an easy three step process—Squirt, Scour, and Squeegee—the Scotch-Brite™ Quick Clean Griddle Cleaning System cleans efficiently with no rinsing needed and leaves no messy residue behind. The cleaning liquid is formulated with ingredients that are considered “Generally Recognized as Safe” in food by the U. S. FDA and is the only griddle cleaning liquid that has been Green Seal Certified™.

“Food service griddles are one of the most commonly used pieces of commercial kitchen equipment and are subjected to a high volume of greasy soils that can be very difficult to clean. In an industry where speed of service is critical, every minute counts,” said Vangcha Lo, technical service specialist at 3M. “Optimizing back-of-house operations by cleaning griddles in half the time can be directly correlated to cost savings as well as increased sales.”

Safer Design and Safer Workers
The long handle design of the Scotch-Brite™ Multi-Purpose Pad Holder 405-R and Scotch-Brite™ Squeegee 410 tools helps prevent burns by keeping user’s hands away from the hot griddle surface. The unique heat-resistant design of the Scotch-Brite™ Quick Clean Heavy Duty Griddle Pad 746  allows users to clean flat top griddles at operating temperatures, is designed to remove more food soil faster than the leading competitive system’s pad, and is certified by HACCP International as being “Food Safe” and “Fit for Purpose.”

The Scotch-Brite™ Quick Clean Griddle Cleaning System is an innovation from 3M Commercial Solutions Division. Recognized and respected as a leading food service solutions provider for more than 50 years, 3M continues to provide solutions to efficiently and cost-effectively clean kitchen facilities and equipment while still maintaining cosmetic appearance.
